Fantasy | Graphic Novel Review: Babyteeth by Donny Cates

Thank you Netgalley for providing me with a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Babyteeth is the story of Sadie, a 16 year old girl who gets pregnant, hides her pregnancy from everyone but her sister and is scared of the consequences. Sounds simple enough till you factor in that her child is an evil being of untold power known as The Final Son. She promptly proceeds to name him Clark (after Superman). Oh and he also drinks blood.

Excellent plot eh?

Fantasy | Book Review: The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins

The Library at Mount Char

tl:dr review: Wonderfully weird! Or weirdly wonderful! Either one works.

Long review: Yet another book recommended to me. The back cover makes this book sound almost like a normal thriller. There’s a psychopath who tortures children, a girl who was taken from her parents and has some delusions as to the identity of her abductor. The actual story is so weird, wonderful and touching that the blurb almost doesn’t do it just. Read on for a full review!

Fantasy Sci-fi | Book Review: Legion by Brandon Sanderson

Fantasy | Book Review: Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

So my book club voted to read this and I have to say that I am quite disappointed. I got the audio book version for this and it was narrated by Jesse Bernstein. While reading about the book, it felt like this would definitely be something I would like if not love. The plot seemed excellent and there was a movie tie-in which led me to believe the book definitely has substance. Unfortunately, it wasn’t so.

Sci-fi Fantasy | Book Review: The Hike by Drew Magary

The Hike

This book was recommended to me by a friend and I started reading it not knowing what it was about. The back cover was a bit vague and I had never read anything else from the author. I was skeptical but it turned to be quite an experience! Drew Magary has also written The Postmortal which seems just as quirky and it is now on my reading list.

Epic Fantasy | Book Review: Gardens of the Moon by Steven Erikson

Gardens of the Moon Limited Edition

Ah how this journey started!

Before I got started with this book, I knew what I was getting into. But the way people described these books to me, that made up my mind. Even if it took ages, I’d finish reading all these books.Pretty much everyone who recommended the Malazan series said that the first book will be a bit confusing and I have to agree with them.
